1799 Miss Parminter climbs in the Alps, summitting Mont Blanc, the first record of a woman climber.

1808 Marie Paradis, a young Frenchwoman climbs Mont Blanc to get more business for her souvenir stand at the bottom of the mountain.

1858 Miss Lucy Walker climbs her first route.

1871 Miss Lucy Walker becomes the first woman on a major ascent of the Matterhorn. She also makes the fourth ascent of the Eiger.

1880 Meta Brevoot took to shedding her dress or skirt while climbing thirty different peaks in eleven years.
